| Who we are We are a grassroots organization that is forming to educate the voting public on Talawanda School District issues. We are your friends and neighbors who are tired of seeing our property taxes continue to increase, in part due to the influence of the Miami student vote during presidential election years. We are not debating that the students have a legal right to vote, but we are the ones shouldering the financial burden as a result of their votes. It is important that both sides of the issues be made available to them so that they can make a more informed decision on those issues. At our June 8 meeting in Reily, we had about 150 people in attendance, with voters from Reily Twp., Hanover Twp., Milford Twp., Oxford Twp. and Oxford who were very enthusiastic about what we can do as a group. We intend to continue beyond the current issue and participate in future ballot issues. |

What started as people complaining about a political issue has grown very rapidly into a
movement that could change Talawanda School District.
Our Political Action Committee (PAC) is now registered.
Why are we doing this? It is not to hurt the school system, those enrolled in the system or the
teachers who work so hard to educate your children. It is intended as a message to the School
Board that enough is simply enough.
The Talawanda School Board is contesting the revised values of property through the Butler
County Auditors office. Many property owners had the value of their property increased
dramatically this year for taxes purposes, and after they were granted a Board of Revision by the
Auditor and the assessed value of their property was lowered, the School Board filed a counter
claim wanting the original, wildly unrealistic value reinstated. They have chosen to do this only
on commercial and rental properties. Superintendent Cagwin has been quoted as saying the
School District wants "fair" values on these. We will have a list of the properties that are being
contested on this site in the near future, but the Meijer store has repeatedly been mentioned by
supporters of the school district, and I will use its assessment to illustrate what some people are
saying is fair.

to do this, especially when they target selected types of
properties. We also feel that it is inappropriate for them to
do this in light of our very troubled economy.
If you agree with what we are saying, attend one of our
meetings and help us take back control of our school district.
